Ericom featured on CISCO website

We were recently featured in a great article from CISCO about our work with the folks at Blue Haven Care down in Kiama.

Partner Success Story

Having the support of a close-knit community is more important than ever in the golden years of life. At Blue Haven Aged Care, nestled near Australia’s coast in New South Wales (NSW), the retired and elderly enjoy a high level of camaraderie and care in its residential communities.

Blue Haven’s people are interconnected—but you couldn’t say the same about its wireless networks. Until recently, the head office’s network consisted of motley equipment from different vendors. Monitoring and troubleshooting the piecemeal system was challenging because it lacked a single management portal to tie the network together.

When Blue Haven expanded, breaking ground on a new retirement village in Bonaira, they urgently needed a fresh solution. Luckily, they found Telstra who partnered with Ericom Pty Ltd., a NSW based Systems Integrator that specializes in unified network systems.

Telstra and Ericom came to the rescue with an end-to-end solution from Cisco. Their partnership provided a resilient, scalable and highly available WAN Edge, Data, Voice and Wireless network using best of class enterprise infrastructure comprising of:

  • Cisco Nexus Core Switching with DNA enabled Access Switching
  • Catalyst 9800 and DNA enabled WLAN
  • Viptela enabled SD-WAN
  • Cisco WebEx Powered WebEx Teams with On-Premise Business Edition 6000

From its switches and access points to its wireless local-area network (LAN), every piece of Cisco equipment works together to form a cohesive whole. Best of all, Blue Haven has a single portal for all their network management needs, as well as ongoing tech support from Ericom.

Today, the residents and staff at Blue Haven Bonaira are reaping the benefits of the their unified wireless network. With a nurse-call system integrated into the Wi-Fi, residents enjoy greater safety and can easily communicate their location when they need assistance. Telstra/Ericom partnership provided dependable wireless that lets the Blue Haven Bonaira residents keep in touch more easily with each other and their near and dear ones.

That’s camaraderie at the highest level.

Between a fragmented system and a powerfully unified solution, there’s a bridge.

Ericom announced as finalist in CRN impact awards.

The 2019 CRN IMPACT awards finalists have been announced and Ericom is proud to reveal that we have been selected as a finalist!

Competing against 130 other organisations across 11 categories Ericom was announced as one of the three finalists in the Customer Excellence category. Also announced as finalists in the category were creative digital agency GHO for their work with student accommodation app Urbanest and Transpire a creative agency who developed an interactive smartphone experience for the Sir John Monash centre a World War One memorial in France.

The impact awards recognise outstanding projects from Australia’s technology sector. Ericom has been selected for their outstanding work in delivering a comprehensive overhaul of the Offender Telephone Service (OTS) infrastructure in NSW’s correctional facilities. The OTS system provides crucial access for offenders to maintain and develop family and community relationships as well as access to legal services while incarcerated.

Telstra won the tender for the project in 2018 after the contract, which was held by a consortium led by Optus networks expired. Ericom was subcontracted along with US-based Telco Global Tel Link to complete the project.

Ericom would like to thank all their staff and our partners who assisted in bringing this project to fruition and to congratulate all the other finalist for the award. We are eagerly waiting for the final winners to be announced!
